OFSTED Registered Nursery in Hatfield Heath Bishops Stortford catering from 3 months up to 5 years in age.
Nursery on the Heath was established in 2011 and prides itself on the support, recommendations and word of mouth of our families past and present. We are proud to say Nursery on the Heath (aka NOTH) has a home from home feel that keeps the children at the centre of its practice and care.
Our staff are our biggest asset so we heavily promote mentoring, teaching and training to ensure continuous professional development. All full-time staff are qualified in early years childcare, learning and development. A current initiative is to achieve Milllie’s Mark, an endorsement given to nurseries by having 100% of staff trained in paediatric first aid. We are nearly there, 19 out of 27 staff have already received training, reassuring parents that safety is at the forefront of our minds.
Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships. Your Key Person will work in partnership with you from your child’s first settling in session until their last day at Nursery on the Heath. They will look after and care for your child, recognising and meeting their needs to help them grow and flourish. Observations will be recorded so that your child’s interests can be assessed and future learning opportunities planned for to help them reach their maximum potential.
MEAL AND SNACK TIMES
We like to provide everything your little one will need whilst they are here with us, right from the start with Aptamil 1 formula milk for those who begin their learning journey in the Baby Room. From fresh produce that is delivered every week, a seasonal three-week menu is provided to ensure balanced, healthy meals and snacks are provided; our cooks will work in partnership with you to ensure we meet all special dietary requirements.
THE BABY ROOM
A warm welcome in our baby room is guaranteed with a space that boasts comfort and the homely feeling that you would like for your baby. The main play room is well equipped with a range of resources for the babies to crawl around, touch, feel and explore, as well as a comfortable sofa for those special moments and cuddles. An adjoining room with black out blinds creates a quiet, cosy sleep area and the stable door leads to a secure outdoor play area. The team, with many years of childcare experience, care for babies between three months and two years.
The Barn is a haven of activity for little explorers with a large room that is well equipped for messy play, role play, music, construction, puzzles, dressing up, small world models and a cosy sofa area to share stories and relax. A large toileting area accommodates any eventuality with nappy changing facilities, potties and age appropriate toilets and wash basins. Our toddlers in the Barn are encouraged to become independent, given support to listen and learn the daily routine and provided with rich learning opportunities to develop holistically with a focus on communication and language skills.
Upstairs on our first floor is our pre-school room for rising three and four-year olds. Days are action-packed with fun and exciting experiences and activities for the children to learn about the world around them. They are also introduced to phonics, early literacy skills, basic number recognition and foreign languages. Independence and self-help skills are strongly promoted and a focus throughout our summer terms is preparing the older children for their adventures to school and next steps in life.
Children are stimulated by the outdoors and our Forest School sessions provide an incredible learning journey that promotes holistic development. Over time, the children experience an increase in their self-belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication, problem-solving skills and emotional well-being. Our Forest School takes place at Birchanger Woods one day per week for the Pre-school children - a presentation and visit to the woods is given before your child participates in these lessons. Our passion is to extend Forest School into as many lives as possible so from September 2018 lessons for the pre-school children will increase to two days per week and introductory Forest School lessons will be given to the Barn children (over 2s) in our paddock, which is located opposite the Nursery.
Outdoor play for children is vital and plays an integral part of their learning and development as it enables them to enjoy the natural environment and learn to seek out exercise, fresh air and activity. All children play outside daily come rain or shine, so appropriate outdoor clothing for all weathers is needed for all our little ones. As well as playing outdoors in our front and rear gardens, the children regularly are seen out and about in the local community.
As well as our wonderful Forest School lessons, Nursery on the Heath also offers other extra curriculum activities to help maximise individual learning potential, all at no extra cost! The babies learn to sing and sign with our Tiny Talk lessons and the toddlers learn to dance, wriggle and jiggle with Jo Jingles. Lessons are rotated throughout the week from term to term and all providers carry out enhanced DBS checks on their staff.
